Transmitter work is in progress with a 1 kW MW transmitter being converted for LW by a radio tech.
The transmitter is in testing stages and will be setup in November now.
A current antenna setup is not considered effective enough but will cover Inari on a temporary basis until the better antenna is constructed.
A huge thanks for those who have donated to help with the setup costs.
Permission has now been granted for more space for the antenna, this has become a bigger project now to increase the range of the signal. An umbrella type antenna will be constructed. The underlying marsh area is the best option for grounding. The winter is now upon us and hindering construction but hopefully this can be achieved soon.
If you are an antenna engineer or have experimented with LF antennas please get in touch as we would very much value some advice.
Overall the project needs more time to get it right and to achieve maximum transmission distance. The expectations from the general public are very high so that has lead to rethinking of aspects of the project, it is better to get things right than rush to cover a small area.
The chance to buy a 125kW LW transmitter has come up however it would need funding beyond what a small station could achieve. This included a whole package of equipment ready for broadcast minus the antenna. Sadly this is far out of reach at present.
There is a Go Fund Me link below if you would like to support the costs of the transmitter and setting up of the radio station. Any help is so gratefully received!
